The following prompts are designed to encourage exploration, observation, and creativity while helping kids and teens learn about plant life cycles and seed dispersal, even in urban environments.
1. Seed Hunt: Look for different types of seeds in your neighborhood or garden. Collect them and note the variety in size, shape, and color.
2. Seed Dispersal Observation: Observe how seeds are dispersed in nature. Look for examples of seeds that travel by wind, water, or animals.
3. Harvest Garden Seeds: If you have access to a garden, harvest seeds from plants like sunflowers, tomatoes, or beans. Learn how to store them.
4. Seed Sorting: Collect a variety of seeds and sort them by size, shape, or color. Discuss why seeds have different characteristics.
5. Harvest Celebrations: Research the importance of harvest in different cultures, what they do come harvest time and how they celebrate. Recreate your own harvest festival with traditional foods and customs.
6. Plant Life Cycle Drawing: Draw and label the life cycle of a plant, from seed to flower to fruit.
7. Seed Experiment: Plant seeds in different conditions (e.g., sunlight vs. shade, dry vs. wet) and observe how they grow. Record your observations.
